Reflecting on my personal experience, where my birthing plan took an unexpected turn from planning a peaceful water birth at a birthing center to birthing at a hospital via cesarean section, I understand the significance of compassionate and informed support during childbirth. We already know the alarming statistics that Black women face in childbirth and how we so deeply need more diverse voices and advocates in the birthing world to bridge this gap and provide inclusive, culturally centered care. Let’s address the disparities in childbirth and welcome more diverse voices into the birthing world. 🤎
