TV Shows that Represent Black and Brown Children

Tv and screen time can be such a daunting topic in the parenting community. How much is too much? Is it educational? Are we represented? There’s a lot to consider when introducing our children to society.

Two things about my parenting, I’m going to make education fun, and I will always go out of my way to make sure my child(ren) sees themselves in the world around them. Music, art, literature/books, media/tv, sports, hobbies, careers, toys — all of it.

Representation plays a significant role in a child’s development. It helps them to understand the world around them and how they fit into it. It also highlights how they are unique and gives them insight into cultural differences and similarities. It opens the door for conversation and invites a sense of belonging.

I wanted to share some of our favourites, for anyone looking for educational/inspiring/stimulating TV shows representing Black and Brown families with younger children.
